Oscillations 2012 is a unique festival of electroacoustic music in Halifax, NS. It is a rare opportunity to experience new and classic works of this genre in enveloping multi-channel surround sound. Expect to be transported to a fantastical world of lush landscapes, exotic textures and vibrant colours. Travel through fairy tales, tackle controversial issues and lose yourself in the most delicate moments.

This year’s festival focuses on the human voice, a sound most intimately familiar to every human being. Electroacoustic Divas (February 18) features two of Canada’s most accomplished contemporary vocalists, Janice Jackson and Helen Pridmore, performing works with preset electroacoustic music and live computer processing. The Phantom Voice (February 19) presents electroacoustic music built on manipulations of prerecorded voice.
